Tim (20 years old), a third-year student in Mechanical Engineering in the Netherlands, completed a six-month internship at IP Parking in the FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) department as part of his studies.
In addition to writing his school assignment, Tim supported various FAT tasks, giving him the opportunity to work both independently and as part of a team. He also contributed to designing a system that makes the FAT process more efficient and streamlined. Tim delivered a complete 3D model, including a 2D drawing package, for organizing connections.
During his assignment, Tim identified opportunities to reduce the turnaround time for factory acceptance and better organize the cables. The goal was to develop a 3D design in SolidWorks for a system setup that increases efficiency while making the workspace safer by improving cable handling.
The system Tim designed enables connections that come down in fixed locations to be rolled up, eliminating obstructions. This prevents cables from having to loop under pallets, making it easier to position new projects and saving time.
Tim looks back on his internship experience positively: "I worked with great colleagues and looked forward to coming to the company every day. It was a valuable time where I gained experience in a large-scale company, which improved my communication and planning skills. Additionally, I learned a lot technically by actively participating in the FAT tasks."
We would like to thank Tim for his dedication and the contributions he made through his work and assignment. IP Parking is always open to new talent, so feel free to contact us to explore opportunities!
